The Zug Commodity Association (ZCA) is pleased to inform you about a lunch and learn event in cooperation with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and twentyfifty ltd.. This event takes place on June 20, 2018, starting at 12:00 in Zug (Grafenauweg 10).
The focus is on one of the hottest current topics in corporate governance; the corporate responsibility to respect human rights. Increasingly companies face requests from business customers, investors, governments and civil society to show how they know they respect human rights in their own operations, and global supply chains. This event will provide companies with insight into the Federal Council's expectations of Swiss Companies, and a practical introduction to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and their implementation. It will introduce the practice of human rights due diligence – as being adopted by international business Guidelines and in national legislations such as the UK Modern Slavery Act or French Act of Corporate Vigilance.
Speakers
- Rémy Friedmann is Senior Advisor on business and human rights at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. He will discuss the Federal Council´s strategy for the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. He will state what the Federal Council expects of the business enterprises and how it supports companies in this implementation process.
- Luke Wilde is the Chief Executive of the management consultancy twentyfifty ltd. He will introduce human rights due diligence process and provide examples of good practices on how leading companies are understanding and managing social impacts using a human rights lens.
