Swiss law is frequently chosen by contractual parties to govern contracts for international sales contracts for commodities or for manufactured goods. This is because Swiss law is often seen as being business-friendly, neutral and commonsensical.
William Hold will discuss a number of issues that frequently arise in connection with contracts for the sale of goods, and will review some of the remedies that are available when a sales contract is breached. Topics will include quality claims, force majeure and time bars.
William Hold is a Senior Associate at HFW. He is English- and Swiss-qualified, and has been working as a lawyer in the commodities field for over ten years. His disputes practice covers issues under both Swiss and English law. He regularly acts for clients, many of whom are commodities traders, in arbitrations under the Swiss Rules, the ICC Rules and the LCIA Rules.
