This talk introduces the application of emerging software technologies, processing open source content into realtime information, to deliver alter- native risk intelligence data for commodities trading.

We will look at how global realtime event detection brings visibility to hard- to-reach and difficult-to-see parts of the world where geopolitical, opera- tional, and environment disruptions impact critical infrastructure and commodity flows.

While data driven techniques are fundamental to this process, we will dis- cuss, through examples, how a hybrid approach involving human and machine intelligence remains essential to provide oversight on internet based content pollution, and to deliver deep analysis into potential com- modities supply shocks.
