The phase-in of obligations applicable to derivatives trading under the Swiss Financial Market Infrastructure Act will now start to go live as from 2017, starting with risk mitigation obligations and margin requirements. The clock is therefore now ticking to take the measures required to ensure compliance with such obligations.

We will give an update how such obligations will apply to commodity trad- ing firms, what actions are taken by counterparties and what actions must be taken by the commodity trading firms themselves. We will also give an overview on the state of play regarding the derivatives regulation in the EU under EMIR, its equivalence recognition and its impact for Swiss counter- parties.
